 The Journey That Started It All 

In 2023, I packed my suitcase and set off on what became a nine-month solo journey through Europe.

I wasn't travelling simply to tick places off a list. I wanted to slow down, spend time in different communities and discover what happiness, kindness and gratitude looked like in everyday life.

Along the way, I travelled by trains, buses, ferries and on foot. I wandered through cities and villages, climbed mountains, explored ancient places, tasted local foods and met wonderful people—many of whom became part of the story.

There were carefully planned days and completely unexpected ones. There were moments of courage, laughter, uncertainty, generosity and extraordinary kindness.

And somewhere along the way, the journey became about much more than travel.

It became the story of Hapkinful.

 Travel Slowly. Notice More. 

Slow travel gave me something precious — time.

Time to sit in a café and watch everyday life unfold.
Time to wander without always knowing where I was going.
Time to return to favourite places instead of rushing on to the next destination.
Time to talk to people whose paths happened to cross mine.

And time to notice the little things.

A stranger offering directions. A conversation on a train. A beautiful sunset. A meal shared with someone new. A helping hand when things didn't quite go according to plan.

These were often the moments I remembered most.

Hapkinful Travels is about the famous places and wonderful sights, but it is also about the people, the unexpected moments and the little acts of kindness found in between.

Because sometimes the best part of a journey isn't where you went.

It's what you noticed along the way.
